Welcome to a new magazine. I am Sonia, a multi-artist and serial entrepreneur. I have operated my businesses in the cultural sector for nearly 40 years. In January 2022, I may have been one of the most naive Norwegians regarding the rule of law. I lived in a nation with a robust, truth-seeking, and ethical police force, ensuring legal protection for its citizens - or so I thought. It was a year of unexpected turns. A Corona loan advance from a Norwegian bank, which I had used responsibly for my artist enterprise, led to an undeserved conviction in 2023. In the cultural field, advance payments are a norm. It took ten breaches of the law from various authorities, to seal my fate: three from the bank, four from the police investigator, two from the police prosecutor, and one from the state prosecutor. I got the opportunity to witness the operations of the police, the prosecution, and the courts of Norway firsthand. Rarely have I been more shocked. I realized that wrongful convictions are more prevalent in Norway than most are willing to acknowledge, and that the legal system conceals its flaws under the guise of perfection to bury innocent individuals deep within the shadows of the prison walls. This publication addresses the issue from different perspectives and is designed for those who earn a living as artists and creative entrepreneurs.
