For ten years, Linda Eide phoned home to her mother in rural west Norway, not to ask how she was but to dig up something new about the olden days. In Mission Mother, Linda presents a thoughtful and witty account of times past: stories of: childhood, bicycles, Elvis, life at sea, the war and more. Shared memories and eye-opening accounts from her mother's life before Linda was born. While Linda longs back to those days, her mother stands securely in the present - a time unrecognisable from her younger years. What were those olden days and who is her mother really?
Linda Eide is a well-known and loved Norwegian television personality and journalist. For many years she has entertained the Norwegian public with her interesting, witty and quirky shows about sports history, Norwegian places and more recently her talk show about language. Linda, from Voss, is an advocate for the Nynorsk language and the use of local dialect on national radio and television. She is also a keen recorder player and a believer in the use of the bicycle for commuting and cargo.
